today i went to the real run afterall.
i ran into howhuat at the holding area. he's 1 of my army section mate who went to sign on, he's going to be a 2nd sgt next month. on the right is my fellow section commander ong. he's now working at home team ns and is the organiser for the race!

section 3 reunited

this is the starting point before everyone gathered.
Initially i thought i could run with the top few runners at least for 3-4km at the start. I squeesed my way to the front few at the start point.
however I was caught totally unprepared when the route started trial came so quickly. i'm damn impressed that they could run so fast on the soft sand because i was slipping and sinking at every step! I guess i might have aggravated my injury a little at that point a little.
after the trial it was flat road all the way till the beach run. nv know it could be so hot at 8am. somemore this is October!
i endured all the way till after the beach run and after that i cannot tahan already. walked for a good 100m when the route was sheltered. then at the next water point i poured water all over my head and ran till the end. many times i wanted to stop because of the heat, but if i stop it would mean more time under the blazing sun. so i just kept on running to save my life!
after the race i straight away walked to the shade and immediately into the air con holding area.
really can't stand it!
oh yah today i experienced the runners trots again.
in short i lao sai after the run again. First at the changi exhibition centre/holding area, then at white sands, then at eugene's house and a few more times at home!
i thought my breakfast was ok. i ate a bowl of cereal, 1 slice of gardenia fruit loaf bread, and 2 eggs in the morning. i'm sure there are other times when i do that and it was ok.
i did a bit of googling and according to the Handbook of Sports Medicine and Sports Science it affects 20 to 40% of runners. the real reason is not known but it affects runners more than swimming or cycling!
then it claimed that it might be because of dehydration or lactose intolerant.
might be true, i think i drank milk the night before and i might be a little dehydrated during the hot race today!

last but not least

here's my verdict on my 'SKINS' tights.
it did not live up to it's hype
all the stuff about improving performance, enhancing recovery etc, didn't happened. at least for me.
it's comfortable and nice to run in, but definitely not worth $97
need to book ippt soon to recoup my losses!
